The short version
Cortex runs on your machine. Zero telemetry by default. Your API keys stay in your local config. The marketing site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and stores no PII.
The Cortex desktop app
Cortex is a local-first desktop application. When you install and run it, the following happens on your machine:
- When you sign in to Claude on first launch, the official
@anthropic-ai/claude-coderuntime stores its credentials in its own per-user config on your machine. Cortex hands those credentials directly to its bundled Anthropic CLI subprocesses. - Your prompts, conversation history, and workspace state are written to a folder you choose. Cortex never uploads them.
- Cortex does not phone home. There is no Cortex cloud account. No analytics, no error reporting, no usage telemetry, no opt-in dialog — because there is nothing to opt in to.
- The only outbound network traffic Cortex generates is the API calls to Anthropic that you triggered, using your credentials. v0.1 is Anthropic-only; if and when other providers (OpenAI, Google, local models like Ollama) are added, traffic for those would also go directly from your machine to that provider.
The marketing site (this page)
The website at cortex.williamsonautomationllc.com uses
Cloudflare Web Analytics.
It is cookieless, runs no client-side fingerprinting, and stores only
aggregate request data (page views, country at the country level,
referrer, browser version). No personal information is collected.
If you email carter@williamsonautomationllc.com, the email and its contents are stored in a personal mailbox under standard email infrastructure terms.
Data subject rights
Because the desktop app collects nothing about you, there is nothing for us to delete or export. If you have emailed Carter and want that correspondence removed, send a request to carter@williamsonautomationllc.com.
Changes to this policy
If this changes (for example, when a paid hosted tier ships), this page will be updated and the change will be announced on the Cortex GitHub repository.
